An Honest Review: Globe Postpaid Online Application

The biggest trouble of working online is that its quite difficult to qualify for postpaid plans under my name. Generally, telecom companies require proof of billing and proof of income. First, I don't have bill under my name. Second, I do receive salary but i'm not sure if they accept Paypal and Unionbank EON transaction history.


I'm really dying to get a postpaid phone so what is did was i checked out Smart, Globe and Sun. Both Globe and Sun accept online application. As usual, I am very lazy to go out and visit their office so I was looking for the most convenient way to get a postpaid phone. I did check Sun first. I was very excited when I saw they had online application feature. But I was disappointed when I found out they have no delivery service. Although they allow customers to fill out application forms online and simply upload the scanned documents required, they only release the units in their office is approved. Of course, I don't like that. LOL


I went to Globe and found out they have the online shop that allows you to apply for postpaid plans online, submit scanned documents online and everthing is online! Oh-Eem-Gee! This is it!

Here's what I did:

• Register an account at GLOBE website first.
• Check out their online shop.
• Choose the plan. ( In my case, I chose plan 499 from Super Plan)
• Choose the freebies. ( I got 2 freebies)
• Choose phone ( I chose two units for my mom and me. Of course, I have to get one for her too because I will be using her name on the applicaiton. Anyway, I opted for Blackberry Curve 9220 (for mom) and Samsung Galaxy Pocket for yours truly. :)
• Add to cart.
• Checkout.

An email was sent to my mom's email, which i am the administrator because mom doesn't know how to use it. I just inform her if she gets important messages. Anyway, the email was an order confirmation. It says that I should just wait for 2-4 working days for their response. There was a part of the instruction that says if I need to follow up my application, I can call or send email to their sales support team with email subject "buddy". 

I didn't actually take the application seriously. I was just trying my luck. 

The next day, I received a text from a Globe number telling me that my order was being processed. Wow! Fast, right? It was then I found out that Buddy is the sales agent holding my application. 

On the next message, Buddy told me to send the scanned requirements to the email with again, ATTN: BUDDY as the email subject. Ok, so I applied on a Thursday (November 22,2012 and got the reply on a Friday. So basically, there is no work the next day. However, I did my best to come up with my mom's proof of income (of course, with her consent). I went to the city hall and got her employment certification with salary. I had it scanned along with mom's GSIS ID. And oh, I forgot to mention, I am already using Globe postpaid broadband, still in mom's name so I used the electronic billing sent to her email.

On my email, I attached the following scanned documents:

• Mom's GSIS ID
• Mom's Certificate of Employment stating her annual salary.
• Globe Broadband latest bill ( under mom's name, of course)

So, I sent the documents on a Friday, 3pm. The next day, Saturday, I got a text message from Buddy telling me that he got the documents.

An hour after, Buddy sent me series of text messages asking about mom's office number, TIN, father's name, mother's maiden name, grandmother's name, office address, etc.

Since it was a weekend (November 24, 2012), Buddy said it would take 2 to 3 working days for our application to be processed. 

Monday morning at around 10am, November 26, Globe called up confirming mom's identity. Again, they asked a lot of questions. At 6pm, someone called up again telling us that our application was approved. Wow! Super fast! 

Globe representative told us our orders will be delivered on December 1. Yay!!!He told mom that she must be there when delivered because she has to sign some contracts.

Waiting... Waiting...

December 1 ... No Delivery. LOL

I was a bit disappointed because mom and I really stayed at home the whole day. We were very excited. But then, nothing came. We expected the delivery on a Sunday... but then again, NOTHING.

Since I saved Buddy's number on my phone, I texted him.

I asked what happened to the delivery. It was so kind of him to respond promptly. Buddy said the delivery was delayed due to the holiday. Oh yes, it makes sense. November 30 was holiday.

Monday, December 3, someone called up again. This time its the courier! They said they were about to deliver  the unit. Unfortunately, mom was not at home that time. So, we asked them to meet at mom's office instead. Globe's Official Courier is Fed Ex. Mom signed the contract. Finally, we got the phones! I paid 1,196php upfront.

• Blackberry 9220 Curve at 499 with mandatory add-on of 99 for BBM.
• Samsung Galaxy Pocket at 499 with mandatory add on of 99 for Powersurf.

Isn't it obvious that we are not really excited? 

Soon after we got the phones, we bought rubber protectors. LOL

The black one's mine and blue for mom.

I love how Samsung Galaxy Pocket looks with the black protector. 

It's like a MAN's phone. Love it!

The Bottom Line

I didn't have any idea Globe could be this fast. I was just trying my luck if mom can pass. She did without doing anything. (I did all the transactions in her behalf. LOL) Anyway, its really good there's such service from telecom companies now. I just hope there are no extra charges on my future bills. I heard some Globe users experienced some bill shock. However, Globe guaranteed that they will not charge customers under 999 plans more than 999php. 

I will be updating you guys when my bill comes. I hope i won't get the "bill shock". Definitely, Globe's online application is EXCELLENT! 

With the other services, I am yet to find them out and share them to you. 

Although there were some delays, it did not bother me a lot. I mean, it made sense. It was holiday.

If you want to apply for a postpaid plan, go for Globe. DO IT ONLINE and you'll get your new phone right in front of your doorstep.
